Juneteenth Fort Worth Opal’s Walk

| Jun. 19

Fort Worth Convention Center to Will Rogers Coliseum

Trinity Metro is a proud sponsor of this year’s Juneteenth Fort Worth Opal’s Walk. Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in America.

Fort Worth resident and social impact leader Ms. Opal Lee will lead a 2.5-mile caravan on Friday, June 19th in honor of Juneteenth. Be a part of this historic day by following Miss Opal on her walking campaign for a National Holiday. Ninety-three-year-old Opal Lee will lead the caravan by foot and the public is encouraged to safely socially distance and follow in their vehicles.

The route will start at the Fort Worth Convention Center and end at Will Rogers Memorial Center. This route will mark 2.5 miles, symbolic of the two and a half years that it took to inform the enslaved that they had been set free after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.
