Tarrant County College (TCC) students now have a free option for getting around Tarrant County – and thousands are enjoying the opportunity. Since the program began in May, students have taken nearly 30,000 rides.
Thanks to an agreement between TCC and Trinity Metro, students can ride any of the 46 bus routes in Tarrant County and TCC will pick up the tab. They can also ride the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) at no cost within Tarrant County. In January, TCC students can use their IDs to ride the new TEXRail commuter rail line from Fort Worth to DFW Airport’s Terminal B.
While students enjoy their rides, TCC pays the fares. As part of Trinity Metro’s EasyRide agreement, the transit agency added new bus service to TCC Northeast and TCC Southeast campuses in August. With those additions, Trinity Metro serves all TCC locations, including Trinity River Campus, South Campus, Northwest Campus and the Erma C. Johnson Hadley Northwest Center of Excellence for Aviation, Transportation and Logistics.
“This agreement exemplifies a partnership designed for the future of Tarrant County,” said Paul Ballard, president/CEO of Trinity Metro. “Having an educated workforce strengthens the roots of a community and helps it grow and prosper in the future.
