When bus service resumes, it is likely that schedules will be operating on a winter weather schedule as outlined below.

Bus service will operate on an hourly schedule with the following exceptions:

  • There will be no service on Molly the Trolley.
  • There will be no service on The Dash.
  • Routes 23 may operate later in the day if Tarrant County College classes begin later in the morning, depending on whether sufficient melting occurs and resources are available.
  • Express Routes 61, 63, 65, or 66 will not operate during severe winter weather.

Routing/Detours

To the extent possible, operations will try to follow regular routes.  It is not unusual for some portion of the service area to experience icy conditions while another portion is clear.  Operations supervisors will survey the situation and determine if it is safe to use regular routing.  However, there are many segments of routes that may be considered too hazardous to traverse in icy conditions and staff have proactively worked out detours to avoid them. Most hazards involve steep slopes and bridges, however, other hazards may include areas that remain shaded thus slowing the ice melt, narrow residential streets with on-street parking, or even shallow slopes with stops where there is insufficient traction to overcome both gravity and inertia.  Detours are described below.

Planned service modification for TEXRail on Jan. 24

(FORT WORTH, TEXAS) Jan. 17, 2023 – TEXRail service will be modified on Tuesday, Jan. 24, to accommodate work crews at DFW Airport North Station. Work will begin at 2 a.m. and a bus will transport TEXRail passengers to and from Grapevine/Main Street Station, DFW Airport North Station and DFW Airport Terminal B Station. Trains will run as scheduled between Fort Worth T&P Station and Grapevine/Main Street Station.

Work will continue into the early hours of Wednesday, Jan. 25, and regular service will resume at 3 a.m. that day.

Passengers should not experience any significant delays.

Celebrating 4 years of TEXRail

(FORT WORTH, TEXAS) Jan. 4, 2023 – TEXRail will be celebrating its fourth anniversary on Tuesday, Jan. 10, and customers can join in the fun with free rides on the commuter rail line – plus enjoy fun events and a new schedule enhancement. The free rides begin Tuesday, Jan. 10 and run through Monday, Jan. 16, on TEXRail and also on ZIPZONE rides that connect to a TEXRail station.

To commemorate TEXRail’s anniversary, Trinity Metro staff will hand out giveaways during the peak commuting time from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Worth Central Station, North Richland Hills/Iron Horse Station and Grapevine/Main Street Station. Passengers have the opportunity to collect a goody bag and enjoy some musical entertainment before or after their trip.

“This is a tremendous time to come out and ride the rails,” said President and CEO Richard Andreski. “TEXRail ridership is growing every month, and this is the perfect time for anyone who hasn’t ridden yet to come out and give it a try. With free rides throughout the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, everyone will have a full week to ride TEXRail for free.”

Schedule improvement

Beginning Jan. 10, TEXRail will adjust the 7:10 p.m. train from DFW Airport Terminal B Station so that it runs the full route back to Fort Worth T&P Station. Currently, it ends at Mercantile Center Station.

“Our customers have been asking for this change, and we’re delighted to make it happen,” said Vice President of Rail Jon-Erik “AJ” Arjanen. “We listened to their feedback, and we know this will be a great adjustment to help passengers trying to get back to Fort Worth.”

Trinity Metro is the sole owner and operator of TEXRail, a 27-mile commuter rail line that runs between downtown Fort Worth and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s Terminal B.

Modified service for Jan. 16

(FORT WORTH, TEXAS) Jan. 3, 2023 – Trinity Metro will be operating on a modified service schedule on Monday, Jan. 16, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Many services, including TEXRail and Trinity Railway Express, will be on regular schedules. Buses and ACCESS paratransit will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

TEXRail sets ridership record in December

(FORT WORTH, TEXAS) Jan. 2, 2023 – TEXRail ridership set an all-time high for monthly rides in December 2022 with 61,689 passengers. That marks the highest number of ridership for revenue service since the commuter rail line opened in January 2019.

“Our ridership has continued to rebound from the impact of COVID, and we are so excited to see the TEXRail numbers soar as they did last month,” said President and CEO Richard Andreski.

“The surge in ridership could be attributed to a number of factors,” said Vice President of Rail Jon-Erik “AJ” Arjanen. “More people are traveling now, and TEXRail is an easy and reliable way to get to the airport. Plus, we see a lot of locals and tourists taking day trips to holiday events in Grapevine.”

TEXRail ridership to and from DFW Airport was 28% higher in December 2022 than in December 2021. When comparing the last quarter of the calendar years, total ridership increased 16% for October-December 2022 over the same period in 2021.

Trinity Metro opened long-term parking options at five of its stations in August, which has also resulted in higher ridership on TEXRail. The long-term parking was expanded to include additional spots to accommodate riders during travel over the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holidays.
