COME VISIT BIG BOY IN FORT WORTH!

Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, was built by Union Pacific Railroad and holds a place of immense significance in American railroad history. Introduced in the 1940s, it was designed to haul heavy freight loads across the challenging terrain of the American West. With its massive size and impressive power, the Big Boy revolutionized freight transportation, allowing for more efficient and economical movement of goods.

Of the eight remaining Big Boys in existence today, No. 4014 is the only one still in operation. The seven other remaining Big Boys are on public display in St. Louis, Mo.; Dallas, Texas; Omaha, Neb.; Denver, Colo.; Scranton, Pa; Green Bay, Wis.; and Cheyenne, Wyo.
