CAR FREE DAY 2025

World Car Free Day, celebrated annually on September 22, is a global movement encouraging people to leave their cars at home for a day and explore alternative ways of getting around. This day highlights the benefits of reducing car dependency—such as improving air quality, decreasing traffic congestion, and promoting healthier lifestyles. By participating, you’re helping to make Fort Worth, and Tarrant County, a cleaner, greener city while enjoying the chance to discover the community from a new perspective. It’s a simple yet impactful way to contribute to environmental sustainability and connect with your city in a fresh way.

Taking the pledge to go car free for a day may be easier than you think. You can use Trinity Metro buses, which offer convenient routes across the city, including connections to downtown, Near Southside, the Cultural District, The Fort Worth Stockyards and popular shopping areas. You could even try out Trinity Metro Bikes at lunchtime. Reduce the number of vehicles on the road on September 22 and see how good it feels to take part.

To help everyone participate,  Trinity Metro is offering free rides on all local services! Simply board the bus or train – no ticket needed – and begin your adventure throughout Tarrant County! Discover details about individual services below. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore Tarrant County on Trinity Metro, risk-free and cost-free!

Commit to World Car Free Day this year with Trinity Metro, and see how much fun getting around Fort Worth can be without your car. Let’s Ride!
