July 11, 2024 (TARRANT COUNTY, TX) — Starting July 15, Trinity Metro On-Demand will unveil service changes as part of Trinity Metro’s vision to increase access to public transportation in Tarrant County through its recently expanded contract with TransitTech company Via.
Trinity Metro On-Demand, which allows riders to book affordable shared rides by app at a moment’s notice, will begin serving Mansfield and Alliance. The first two months of rides are free for riders in these areas.
What’s new?
- Changes to the former Alliance route
o Trinity Metro On-Demand will replace the on-demand ride service in Alliance that was previously operated by Lyft.
o Alliance riders should download the Trinity Metro On-Demand app (available in the App Store and Google Play) to keep riding.
o Alliance riders will be picked up and dropped off at “virtual bus stops” a short walk away (just like in the other Trinity Metro On-Demand areas) versus their exact address. This model increases efficiency across the entire area.
- New Mansfield route
o Community members can now book low-cost on-demand rides to get around Mansfield.
o Key destinations in the Mansfield boundary include Historic Downtown Mansfield, Mansfield Town Center, TCC Southeast Campus, Mansfield High School, Legacy High School, Mansfield Senior Lifestyles, Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park, Walmart and Kroger.
Trinity Metro On-Demand rides are free through Sept. 14. Beginning Sept. 15, fares will be $2 one way or $4 for a day pass that includes transfers between TEXRail, Trinity Metro bus and Trinity Metro On-Demand. Because it is a ridesharing program, Trinity Metro On-Demand passengers will be matched with other riders headed in the same direction into one vehicle to create efficient, sustainable shared trips.
