Bus service suspended for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 4-5

Because of the winter weather and icy road conditions, Trinity Metro is suspending all bus service for the remainder of Friday, Feb. 4, and all day Saturday, Feb 5. Trinity Metro will continue to evaluate conditions for operations on Sunday, Feb. 6.

With the exception of life-sustaining trips such as dialysis, ACCESS paratransit services will also be suspended for the remainder of Friday and all day Saturday, Feb. 5. ZIPZONE will not operate on Friday or Saturday.

TEXRail will continue to operate on its regular schedule throughout the weekend. Trinity Railway Express (TRE) is operating on a Saturday schedule on Friday. TRE will resume its regular schedule on Saturday.

Modified service through Friday, Feb. 4

ALL FIXED ROUTE BUS SERVICE IS STILL SUSPENDED PENDING A DELAYED START ON FRIDAY, FEB. 4 DUE TO THE ICY ROAD CONDITIONS. ROUTES WILL RESUME A MODIFIED SCHEDULE WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

ZIPZONE service is suspended.

ACCESS customers may experience delays.

Trinity Metro TEXRail will operate as planned with a regular schedule.

Trinity Railway Express (TRE) will operate on a Saturday schedule on Friday, Feb. 4.

Customers with specific route or service questions can call Customer Care at 817-215-8600.

Plan for severe weather operations

In the event of inclement weather, all Trinity Metro bus routes will run on a Saturday schedule. Full service details follow.

All normal Saturday services will operate as scheduled with the following exceptions:

  • There will be no service on Molly the Trolley.
  • There will be no service on The Dash.
  • Routes 23 and 67 may operate later in the day if Tarrant County College classes begin later in the morning depending if sufficient melting occurs and resources are available.

Note that the following routes do not have normal Saturday service, 23, 30, 111, Burnett Plaza Lunch Line, Express Routes 61, 63, 65, 66 & 67.  These routes will not operate during Severe Winter Weather.

Routing/Detours

To the extent possible, Operations will try to follow regular routes.  It is not unusual for some portion of the service area to experience icy conditions while another portion is clear.  Operations supervisors will survey the situation and determine if it is safe to use regular routing.  However, there are many segments of routes that may be considered too hazardous to traverse in icy conditions and staff have proactively worked out detours to avoid them.  Most hazards involve steep slopes and bridges, however, other hazards may include areas that remain shaded thus slowing the ice melt, narrow residential streets with on-street parking, or even shallow slopes with stops where there is insufficient traction to overcome both gravity and inertia.  Detours are described below.

  • Outbound – From Calmont Ave. – L- Cherry St.,  L – Hwy 80,  (Layover on Hwy 80 in front of Fiesta)
  • Inbound – From Fiesta, Cont. East to Regular Route (If Lancaster Bridge Closed by Police)
  • Outbound – From 7th Street, Left – Henderson, Right – Lancaster, Right-University, Left- Camp Bowie Regular Route
  • Inbound – From Camp Bowie, Right – University, Left-Lancaster, and Left- Jones, then to Central Station

Route 4 (Regular Route (Use caution on Stalcup))

  • Eastbound – R-Andrew, L-Elgin, R-Stalcup Reg. Route

  • Inbound – From N Main St., Cont’ -N Main St (skip RR Bridge on 28th St), R-Long Ave, R-Decatur, to TEXRail Station
  • Outbound – From TEXRail Station, Left -Decatur (skip RR Bridge on 28th), Left-Long Ave, Left-N Main St, and then regular route to the Stockyards Transfer Center

Warming the rails for safety

Did you know?

When the weather turns cold, keeping the rails from freezing is an important safety measure. Individual containers, known as smudge pots, are lit to produce heat beneath the rail. In weather conditions that involve moisture and near-freezing temperatures, it’s important to generate heat to keep rain or sleet from freezing on the switch points that enable a train to shift to a different track as needed. This safety measure is not needed when the weather is cold and dry.

Use of smudge pots is a common practice in warmer climates. Both Trinity Metro TEXRail and Trinity Railway Express utilize these as needed.

Meet Donna Walker, TEXRail artist

(FORT WORTH, TX – Jan. 31, 2022) – Donna Walker is a professional artist who has been painting full-time for more than a decade. She exhibits her paintings through galleries in Fort Worth, Dallas, Boston and Atlanta. Her work is in many private collections across the country.

Walker’s artwork depicts the large, bright vistas of the rugged Texas landscape. Simple homesteads, native plants, rough hills and open skies showcase the natural beauty of our state. Her bright colors and impactful compositions contrast with the urban scenes of downtown Fort Worth around the train station and the bustle of people and schedules. Fort Worth is a busy city, but it is also on the edge of the countryside. Within a few miles, you are in the open range, with ranches, farms, and large, expansive vistas. It is a wonderful combination that makes this city a unique place. Her work invites the traveler to let their mind wander to what lies beyond the city.

As you move through the six images of the artwork, with their rich, saturated colors, the perspective changes, and there is a rhythm to the abstracted landscape, imagined homesteads and changing horizons. There is a different pace to life represented in Walker’s scenes, with a hint of nostalgia.

Donna’s art has a strong composition and a simple, straight forward design that creates an impact on a viewer, and perhaps an emotional connection. The images can be read quickly by a commuter or, if they have time, can be looked at more closely, with the panels’ small details, texture and connected themes. It is a gift, especially in today’s busy world, to take time to look, to slow down, to reflect and be transported to a new colorful space.

Meet Ariel Davis, TEXRail artist

(FORT WORTH, TX – Jan. 25, 2022) – Ariel Davis is an artist, gallerist, art consultant, and arts advocate based in Fort Worth. Her work reflects on humanity, shared experiences, and time. In her work, you can find at the core the idea of relationships that play with symbolism to tell a story. In preparation of creating a painting, she employs the process of photography, collage, and digital manipulation to create a unique source image. Many times she will engage individuals in the community to collaborate with her as subjects in her work. Capturing and portraying the energy, experience and mood of a scene, group or individual is more important than the details, which is defined by her loose style and use of bold color.

“Friends in Fort Worth T-Shirts” is all about the community coming together to show pride in our city. The intent of imagery in this artwork was to welcome those using public transit to our downtown area, showing the diverse faces who are physically wearing their pride and welcoming all with open arms. 

The project began as an open-invitation group event, where friends and strangers were invited to participate in a photoshoot wearing their favorite t-shirt that promoted or memorialized Fort Worth in some visual capacity. People of all backgrounds came to be photographed.

These portraits were then digitally collaged together to create a panoramic image of people walking in all directions as if they too were moving on and off the TEXRail trains. It is her hope that this artwork will commemorate the welcoming hospitality that the people of Fort Worth are known for and encourage an open and warm embrace of both our friends and strangers.

Tarrant County Public Health, Trinity Metro launch Vaxmobile

(FORT WORTH, TX – Jan. 23, 2022) – Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) and Trinity Metro are bringing COVID-19 vaccines to underserved communities throughout Tarrant County. The Vaxmobile, a 60-foot bus converted to a fully equipped mobile vaccine clinic, will make weekly stops in the areas with the lowest vaccination rates.

The Vaxmobile is a partnership between TCPH and Trinity Metro and will make its inaugural run on Monday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The first stop will be the Fort Worth Public Library’s Meadowbrook Branch, located at 2800 Stark Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76112 with a second stop at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 5109 E. Lancaster Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76112 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“This partnership with Trinity Metro to outfit a bus to carry vaccines to underserved communities is an innovative collaboration and represents the kind of ‘out-of-the box’ thinking that we need to get more shots in arms in Tarrant County,” said Tarrant County Precinct 1 Commissioner Roy Charles Brooks. “Congratulations to both Tarrant County Public Health and Trinity Metro on an outstanding effort.”

About the Vaxmobile

  • Vaccines will be available on a walk-in basis for ages 5 and up
  • Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J vaccines will be readily available
  • No insurance needed to receive a vaccine
  • Health educators will be on board (including bilingual educators for some sites)
  • Post-vaccination recovery area available
  • ADA accessible

“We are happy to partner with Tarrant County Public Health in this effort to bring vaccinations to the community,” said Wayne Gensler, Trinity Metro’s vice president and chief operating officer for bus and paratransit. “This is an important collaboration to help reach residents who haven’t yet had the opportunity to get vaccinated.”

The partnership developed based on the need to remove some of the barriers keeping residents from getting their COVID-19 vaccine. These barriers include not having transportation to a vaccination site, scheduling conflicts and/or technology literacy. To ensure every person in the county who wants to be protected against COVID-19 can do so, by bringing services to where they are.

Federal mask mandate extended through March 18

The federal mask requirement has been extended through March 18, 2022. That means everyone will continue wearing masks when on board any of Trinity Metro’s vehicles and when inside Fort Worth Central Station and Fort Worth T&P Station. Masks are not required on the platforms or while waiting at a bus stop.

The mask mandate originally went into effect on Feb. 1, 2021, and was extended three times in 2021. The implementation is intended to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Other safety measures include social distancing, handwashing and vaccinations.

Modified service for upcoming holiday

Trinity Metro will be operating modified service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. On Monday, Jan. 17, all buses (except those noted below) and ACCESS paratransit will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.

TEXRail, TRE, TRE Link, CentrePort Circulator and Bell Circulator will operate on their regular schedules. All ZIPZONEs will have normal operations. The customer kiosk at Fort Worth Central Station will be open.

Administrative offices will be closed. Our customer care representatives will be available at 817-215-8600 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

TEXRail celebrating three years in service

Trinity Metro TEXRail, the 27-mile commuter rail line that extends from downtown Fort Worth across northeast Tarrant County, through North Richland Hills and Grapevine, and into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s Terminal B, is about to turn three years old. TEXRail, served by nine stations, began service on Jan. 10, 2019.

And soon, TEXRail may be growing! Trinity Metro is proposing an extension of the rail line to the Fort Worth Medical District. In Fall 2020, Trinity Metro began conducting the Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Engineering for a 2.1-mile TEXRail extension project. Commuter rail service would continue south from Fort Worth T&P Station to a proposed new station south of Mistletoe Boulevard, near Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center.
