PEOPLE & CULTURE

People and culture are essential to a strong workforce. A diverse workforce brings a variety of perspectives and experiences to the table, which can lead to increased creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. In addition, a diverse workforce can help to improve customer satisfaction and employee morale.

There are many ways to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace. One way is to hire from a diverse pool of candidates. Another way is to provide diversity training for all employees. It is also important to create a workplace environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

By taking steps to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace, businesses can reap the many benefits that come with it. A diverse and inclusive workforce is a stronger workforce.

DRIVING TO BE MORE INCLUSIVE

Trinity Metro has always driven Tarrant County forward and we’re ready to go further. As our community grows and learns, we feel our teams and our actions must reflect the diversity of the customers we serve, the culture of the geographical areas in which we travel, and the understanding of the activities and destinations visited on public transportation.

FOR MORE INFORMATION ON OUR INITIATIVES:

HISTORIC WALL CELEBRATION

We celebrated Black History Month with a special event at Fort Worth Central Station to commemorate 22 years of the African-American Historic Wall. We heard stories of the many hardworking, dedicated individuals about why this project was so instrumental for our community and it’s lasting impact on Fort Worth culture. Guest speakers included Gyna Bivens, Ed Watson, Dr. Paul Giesel, Paula Blincoe, Brenda Sanders-Wise, and Bob Ray Sanders.

Working with the State Historic Preservation Office, the Black Historical and Genealogical Society, Historic Fort Worth and many community volunteers, Trinity Metro developed this display to perpetuate the economic and cultural contributions of this era.

WOMEN’S HISTORY FIRESIDE CHAT

We invited our employees to Fort Worth Central Station to experience an event of inspiration, support, and practical guidance for women’s advancement. We were joined by Leah King, President and CEO of United Way, Rediesha Allen, Principal of the Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Fort Worth, as well as Trinity Metro employees Carrie Weir and Rebecca Montgomery. We began our event program with a moment of recognition for women within Trinity Metro who have dedicated 30 or more years of service, celebrating their remarkable contributions. Our panel shared the stories of women who had inspired them on their leadership journeys, how to create a more supportive environment for women, and addressed the ongoing challenge of achieving work-life balance.

LATINX: EQUITY IN TRANSIT

Our LatinX fireside chat shared the stories of Hispanic employees and partners navigating the world with strength, resilience, and a deep sense of pride for their community. Moderator and Trinity Metro board member Teresa Ayala prompted panelists with different topics, enabling them to speak of the challenges they have faced, but also of the ways in which their culture and heritage have shaped them into who they are today. Their stories were a testament to the power of community, the importance of perseverance, and the beauty of diversity. They showed us that anything is possible when we come together and lift each other up.
