Virtual public meetings for Advancing East Lancaster

(FORT WORTH, TX – May 21, 2021) – The East Lancaster Avenue community is invited to join one of three upcoming virtual community meetings in June to learn more about Advancing East Lancaster. Public feedback will be used to help develop a plan for a connected, accessible and thriving corridor from downtown Fort Worth on Lancaster Avenue past Interstate 820 by implementing local high-capacity transit and surrounding economic development.

The project’s first round of public meetings is scheduled for June 15, 16 and 17, and are designed to bring residents, community leaders, elected officials, business owners and other stakeholders together with project representatives to obtain vital input needed to help guide the advancement of the transit-oriented development (TOD) plan. All are encouraged to attend, as your feedback is needed to support the design and development of project plans that will be compiled and presented to the Fort Worth City Council for approval.

About the Advancing East Lancaster plan

As the region continues to grow, we want communities to evolve as well. High-capacity transit has the ability to bypass traffic and avoid delays by operating in a dedicated lane. Establishing local high-capacity transit can provide not only convenient transit options, but economic opportunities to the surrounding communities through mixed-use development of commercial, residential, office and entertainment centered around or located near each transit station, while creating a sense of community. Help us determine what the corridor could look like and its future possibilities.

This project is led by Trinity Metro and the City of Fort Worth in coordination with the consultant firm Kimley-Horn.

Celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day

(FORT WORTH, TX – March 15, 2021) – Trinity Metro is joining public transportation agencies across the country in celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day on Thursday, March 18.

“Our drivers are the backbone of our transit agency,” said President and CEO Bob Baulsir. “Transit Driver Appreciation Day is an opportunity to honor our drivers for the exceptional work they do throughout the year. They are the face of Trinity Metro, and we are so proud of how well they represent us in the community.”

For many customers, a bus driver is the only person they will meet from a transit agency.

“Our drivers represent not only a reliable ride. They also represent someone who is a friendly face on a passenger’s regular route. Drivers also provide customer service by answering questions, providing directions and making sure passengers reach their destinations safely.”

At Trinity Metro, bus operators cover 6 million miles over the course of a year. That equates to 408,000 hours behind the wheel. ACCESS paratransit drivers spend 74,000 hours transporting customers across 1.3 million miles in a year.

Bus fun facts

  • Trinity Metro’s fleet has 154 buses.
  • The 48 routes serve many locations, including all Tarrant County College campuses, TCU, Tarrant County courts and the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards.
  • Routes are served by 240 dedicated bus operators, 20 supervisors and 87 bus mechanic personnel.
